June’s cool down to the New York Yankees’ hot start to the baseball season didn’t affect fan interest, as the club is on the cusp of drawing 3 million fans for the 25th straight non-pandemic restricted season.
The Yankees reported sales of $282.2 million in tickets and luxury suites through June 30, good for 2.99 million 2025 regular season home game tickets sold by that date. The franchise last drew fewer than 3 million regular season fans in 1998, according to Baseball-Reference. Attendance at the games played in the Bronx to date is 2.5 million. The Yankees roared out to a 35-22 record through May 31 but are just 32-35 since, including a sub-.500 June. They are most likely headed for a wild-card berth.
The total $282 million in ticket and suite revenue through June is well ahead of 2024, when the club reported $258 million in ticket sales in the first half of last year, although the team noted timing differences means comparisons to the year-ago period aren’t exactly apples to apples. Still, “as of the date of this report, ticket sales and suite license proceeds collected for the 2025 season are ahead of ticket sales and suite license proceeds collected for the 2024 season,” the team said in a disclosure to the bond market.
The team discloses its ticket and suite sales figures because the proceeds are used to guarantee the bonds sold to finance the construction of the current Yankee Stadium. A spring disclosure showed the team had sold $226 million in tickets through March 31. A team spokesperson didn’t respond to a request for comment.
The revenue figures don’t include the many other sources of team income, including broadcast, merchandise, concessions and parking revenue. The Yankees produced $799 million in overall revenue in 2024—a season that saw them return to the World Series for the first time in 15 years—according to Sportico.
