Rap star Snoop Dogg has bought a stake in Swansea City, the Welsh soccer club revealed Thursday. Swansea plays in the Championship, the second division of English soccer after the Premier League.
Swansea is owned by Americans Andy Coleman, Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, who took control of the club last year. In April, Croatian soccer star Luka Modrić, who just joined AC Milan after 13 seasons with Real Madrid, also joined Swansea’s cap table.
Next year will be Swansea City’s seventh season in the Championship. It was in the Premier League for seven years before the club was relegated following the 2017-18 season.
Last weekend, Snoop helped launch Swansea’s 2025-26 home jersey and promoted it to his 155 million social media followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X. The 53-year-old has been nominated for 16 Grammy Awards, though he has never won.
“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop Dogg said in the team announcement.
The 2025-26 Championship season will be stacked with celebrity owners after the promotions of Wrexham and Birmingham City. Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, now known as Rob Mac, became co-owners of Wrexham in 2020 and the club has now been promoted three straight seasons. Last year, actress Eva Longoria invested in the Welsh club. Seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady owns a small stake in Birmingham City.
Burnley, which counts three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt as an investor, was promoted to the EPL for the 2025-26 season. Also in the Premier League, actor Michael B. Jordan owns a stake in Bournemouth, while Leeds United’s long investor list includes actors Russell Crowe and Will Ferrell, golfers Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, and former NBA MVP Russell Westbrook.
